Good grammar is sexy.

My mother watches Grey’s Anatomy for the drama. I watch Grey’s Anatomy to keep her company.
Last week, however, I related to this over-dramatic television show. Why?
Because of this:
Injured hobbit: Fifteen Collector’s Edition replicas of the Doctor Who TARDIS, signed by Russell T. Davies.
And this:
Nerd friend: [His ear’s] probably stuck to some Storm Trooper’s boot!
Missing-ear nerd (dressed as 10th Doctor): At least we got what we came for. We got a TARDIS!
Nerd friend: Well, I got a TARDIS.
My reaction:

Amidst all the angst that McDreamy and Grey and all the other characters are going through, there were nerds fighting over TARDIS replicas signed by Russell T. Davies. There was a hobbit quoting Tolkien all over the place. There were two women dressed in steampunk. There was a Storm Trooper. And there was nerdlove at the end!
I have never enjoyed an episode of Grey’s Anatomy so much.
(And, if that were reality, I probably would have been one of those injured in the stampede. Because, come on! A Collector’s Edition replica of the TARDIS signed by Russell T. Davies?!)
University Graduation Cap, 2011: Whovian style. A step-by-step process.
My university allows (even encourages) graduating students to decorate their graduation caps, all the better for family members to see. I didn’t decide my design until the night before my graduation ceremony.
Gallifreyan text is so intricate and beautiful, there was no other choice for me. Plus, it spoke of my love for Doctor Who, as well as my status as a nerd, without proclaiming it in large, obvious letters.
Sketched with white colored pencil on black polyester, with the help of circle-shaped objects found around the apartment. Traced with gold puffy paint.

I’ve been revisiting the Star Wars trilogy recently (the original, “real” ones, mind you), whilst introducing them to my (poor deprived) roommate, and I realized just how much a part of me these movies really are. It’s pretty ridiculous.
That’s not to say that I’ve gotten these movies practically memorized or even that I’ve watched them as often as I have watched movies like, say, Amelie or the aforementioned Disney movies.
It’s been quite a long time since I last watched these movies - paying attention, not just with it in the background - but they’re still so familiar to me. As I watch Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, I remember sitting on the couch, cringing. I remember biting my nails as Luke Skywalker hangs onto a cable for dear life. I remember the first time Darth Vader ever told Luke “I am your father” and how shocked I was that someone so good could have a father so evil.
The music, the effects, the blips and bleeps and clicks. The way Darth Vader’s cloak swooshed along the ground as he walked. The sound of the light sabers and their colors. The way they looked, clashing together, and how awesome it was.
There isn’t a point to this tl;dr post but I was most definitely set up to be a nerd from a very young age. I wanted to be a Jedi so badly. In a way, I still do.

It’s not just pop culture anymore! It’s REAL!
This has happened a little too often to me yet I remain unapologetic about my obsession and my nerdiness, thankingyouverymuch.
